The handbuilding techniques are fun and less time-consuming ways to build your own ceramics!
In just ONE handbuilding lesson, you will be able to make your own mug or maybe a second or third creation of your choice!
For those of you visiting Syros for a month or more, we have a package of 4 lessons (once a week) at a discounted price, so that you can be introduced to all 3 handbuilding techniques (slabs, pinching, coiling) and have one more lesson for painting or building another creation combining all the techniques you have learned!

One-off workshop
– We will meet at our studio to get to know each other and have a complimentary coffee and local delicacy
- We will get inspired by the minimalistic Cycladic figurines found in Syros 5,000 years ago
- You will learn how to create with clay via hands-on practice, using some of the handbuilding techniques like slabs and pinching.
- The workshop will last 3 hours and at the end you will have created at least one mug and/or other creations of your choice.
- We will say a few things about the different stages of the clay and ceramic lifecycle, drying, bisque firing, glazing, etc., and see examples of different textures and coloring.
- Over the next few weeks we will fire and glaze your creations and can be sent to you (shipping expenses depend on your country of residence and are not included)
- No prior experience is needed

- Lesson 1: We will build a mug and a plate using the slab building technique.
- Lesson 2: We will build a mug and a bowl using the pinching technique.
- Lesson 3: We will build a vase using the coil building technique.
- Lesson 4: We will paint our creations or build more forms using all the above techniques we learned at the previous lessons
- Each workshop will last 3 hours and at the end you will have created at least one creation mentioned above and/or a creation of your choice.
- Over the next few weeks we will fire and glaze your creations and can be sent to you (shipping expenses depend on your country of residence and are not included)
