A long-standing cultural institution in Ermoupoli, where rare editions, local press archives and public events come together under one roof.
The Municipal Library of Syros is one of the island’s most important spaces for history, reading and public culture. Its collection began in 1926 and has grown into a substantial library of around 55,000 volumes, including rare early printed works and archives connected to Syros and the Cyclades.
It is housed on the ground floor of a handsome neoclassical building from 1863 in Miaouli Square, shared with the cultural center of Ermoupoli. Beyond its shelves, the library also hosts cultural events, making it not only a place for study but also a living part of the city’s cultural life.
